About Laura Kay House

Laura Kay House was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and has lived in Atlanta, GA; Marblehead, MA; Baltimore/Annapolis, MD and for 17 years, has been happy to call the Triangle area of North Carolina home.

Ms. House has a Bachelor of Social Work undergraduate degree and a Master’s degree in Gerontology. Her expertise is in working with the biology and psychology of aging, grief and loss, the positive benefits of socializing on physical and mental health and reinventing ones life after 55. Laura Kay’s experience is also in event planning, working as a lifestyle facilitator in real estate for exclusively those age 50+ and also spent 17 years as a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines.

Laura Kay is the owner of Silver Connections, founded 14 years ago, after fulfilling a continued passion of working with individuals age 55+.  After many years of research and planning, Ms. House concluded that there were limited opportunities available for age “55 and better” adults, who were young and active, to meet others who were also single after the death of a spouse, divorce or never married.  Laura Kay wanted to provide unique and quality events (not a dating service) along with travel as opportunities for individuals to meet others of the same age, with similar experiences, in a safe and pressure-free environment.  She decided to take her vision, past experience and education and began Silver Connections as a full-time business in 2007.  Numerous socializing opportunities are provided for members through quality, professionally planned events as well as stressing personal service and a sense of community within membership.

In addition, Laura Kay is the founder and owner of Your Travel Memories which provides travel opportunities exclusively for singles and couples, active adults, over age 55.

Laura Kay is a volunteer coordinator working with The Caring House, Wreaths Across America and the Raleigh Rescue Mission, as well as involved in many other community organizations.

Silver Connections was honored to be awarded the SearStone Ageless Hero Award for “Business of the Year” in May of 2016.  Ms. House was a Potters Hand Senior Advocacy Award Honoree in 2011 and was also honored in 2009 with the Woman Etcetera! Award as a Triangle Community Entrepreneur.
